Hawley Lake

Brandon, Audrey, and I went on a fishing trip to Hawley Lake with our friends and their two girls. It was so much fun! The only fish that was caught was a few Blue Gill's, but we did catch a whole lot of Crawfish and sun-rays. Audrey and I ended up with pretty bad sunburns. She had sunblock on the whole time so hers is not as bad. I, on the other hand, am crispy. Gross. Other than that, we had so much fun.

We spent the morning fishing, snacking, and chit-chatting.

Not long after we got there, there was a little accident. Little Kylee leaned too far over while trying to watch her daddy catch crawfish and fell right into the water. She was crying from shock but she didn't cry long. She was a trooper. After the shock wore off she did admit it was a little fun.

Audrey was having a good ol' time. She loved the trees, water, cows, chipmunks, and Lilee and Kylee's company. She did not love the butterflies, the fish, the dragonflies, or the crawfish (buggies to her). She disliked them so much that she woke up from her nap on the way home in a panic, looking around in her car seat saying, "buggies!" It was so sad! Later that night she kept waking up screaming that there were buggies in her bed. It was really quite sad. I just made her repeat to herself, "buggies at lake, not in bed."

Besides the scary "buggies," she enjoyed watching the cute little chipmunks as they at her spilled snacks. Little Lilee was determined to catch one. She never did but it was fun to watch.

As the day went on the weather became pretty hot. Audrey and I spent plenty of time with our feet in the water. Audrey splashed and laughed the whole time. She loves water. Before the day ended we had to take her for a ride in the boat. She had been begging since she saw Wes and Cassy take their girls out. She has never been on a boat before so I thought she would be a little scared. She wasn't. She LOVED it. Makes me really want to buy a boat, just for her.

It is a long drive for us from Holbrook to Hawley Lake but it was worth it. We all had so much fun and the scenery reminded me of Utah. I felt like we were driving up Payson canyon. The road was perfectly curvy and there were even Aspen trees. I was a happy girl. I guess I was squealing with delight because at one point Audrey even said, "Mommy happy." She was right.
