Family Fun

My little family had quite the crazy weekend. Not wild crazy, more like strange happenings crazy. The weekend started on Thursday thanks to Audrey having a fever Wednesday night. I figured she would still be sick in the morning so I took the day off. She ended up not having a fever just a stuffy/runny nose, however, I ended up on the couch all day because of an issue with my back.

Thanks to my back and her still being lethargic, I stayed home Friday as well. GROSS ALERT! Audrey woke up Friday morning with diarrhea. I have never seen anything like it! Poor baby was covered, I had to give her a bath after cleaning her up. The rest of the day she was fine and played with her cousins all day long.

My brother Bryce, his wife Susie and their two boys Burkley and Jakson came to visit. We went out to eat, went to the old courthouse, stopped by the old train depot and watched a train for Burk, checked out the old Bucket of Blood Saloon, and ended our tourist trip at Jim Gray's. Burkley and Jakson got new cowboy hats and Audrey got a mood ring, which she lost not long after.

The day ended with us barbecuing and playing games at our Mom's house. We had a really great time and I loved getting so see my nephews, so did Audrey. Audrey plays really well with boys. She's a rough n' tumblin little girl so it is hard for her to play with other little girls. She is definitely a tomboy.

On Saturday we had breakfast at my mom's and said goodbye to Bryce and his family. Audrey and I went home to take naps and do crafts. Brandon's Mom was in town so we visited with her and his sister for a little bit. Saturday was pretty uneventful until around 2a.m. Sunday morning.

I had just taken Audrey back to her bed when I heard her screaming at the top of her lungs. A scream that let me know there was seriously something wrong. GROSS ALERT! Audrey had thrown up all over her bed. It was so very sad. She has never had the actual stomach flu before so I think she was very confused. She was crying because it was in her nose and everything. She kept choking on bits that she wouldn't spit out and she kept trying to wipe the taste out of her mouth with a rag instead of taking a drink of water.

Thankfully Brandon had gotten up with me and was more than willing to keep her calm and talk to her while I changed her bed sheets and cleaned her up. I was really thankful for him staying up with me. Usually I tell him to just stay in bed, I believe I work better by myself. This time, however, I appreciated the support, and I am sure Audrey did as well.

We got her all cleaned up and back in bed. By then she had told me in tears, "I go bed!" She watched Finding Nemo while I tried to convince her to drink her Pedialyte. When she finally did it was lights off and time for sleep. Luckily for me that was the only time she woke up the rest of the night.

She woke up still sick but at least the throwing up part was over. She spent Sunday feeling quite a bit better until bed time she had pooped again only this time her tummy was not covered in it so we just had a quick diaper change and went back to bed.

I know this is a long boring post and nobody really wants to read about a child's stomach flu. I just feel so bad for her! This was her first bout with real stomach flu and she handled it like a champ. Other than being scared when she threw up, she was still her spunky self the rest of the time.

I feel so blessed to have a child that does not let sickness bring her down. She will still run and play with the best of them, and she will do it with a smile and a laugh.   I love my Audrey.
